Local SEO Chapter 4.1 – Consistency is Key
Consistency is a key idea to understand to build an effective audience especially in the area of social media.
When you are consistent in the way you present your brand it helps to reinforce who you are and what you represent and stand for. Once you have this powerful force working in your favour it will be your company and business that your potential and existing clients remember and not your competitors. There is no monetary value that can be placed on such prominence of mind.
How does this work practically?
Firstly brand yourself consistently: In other words make sure to use the same logo, slogan and color scheme across all your online properties. From your corporate website, to your Facebook page, Youtube Channel, Twitter feed etc, you want the same look and feel and more importantly the same message being communicated to your target audience. This helps you to stand out from all the clutter in the minds of your target audience and will lead to more buy in to what you do.
It is also very important to have some type of tagline or slogan that is used as this is often the first thing people see alongside your logo on places such as Twitter and Facebook. If you don’t know where to start with this process, I would suggest getting in contact with myself and we can discuss it more thoroughly.
Once you have a consistent brand and message we can then move onto content consistency.
This is so important nowadays because content is king and this is especially true if your company is using a search engine marketing strategy. Search engines love content and they love consistency, but what exactly does that mean?
If you have decided to begin blogging for your company or personal brand it is very important to keep to a schedule. Whether that schedule be once a month, once every two weeks or once a week it is important to communicate this with your audience so they come to know what to expect from you. For example I publish my course content every Tuesday and Friday as you would know if following this course. One of the most powerful things this does is create loyalty. If you are truly adding value to your audience by publishing great content, they will keep coming back to you and guess who they will contact if they need a little extra support!
Over and over again I have heard the top bloggers talk about the boring non-sexy concept of consistency and discipline. It may not be sexy, but boy does it do wonders as part of your blogging and social media strategy.
What about other social networks?
Then if you are using other social networks like Twitter and Facebook it is important to keep to a schedule too. For myself personally to keep my Twitter updated I use a great tool called Buffer. You can read more about why this is so great, with my Buffer app review here.
So there you have it, the golden key to social media is consistency both in brand message and in regular updates to your audience. You do this you will begin to see results for sure.
