OptimizePress 3 Review

In this OptimizePress 3 review we look at four key factors to the buyer's decision making process. This includes “Ease of use, Features, Pricing and Support”. So if you just want the quick overview of how OptimizePress 3 performs here it is for you.

OptimizePress 3 was only marked down on “Features” and pricing as it is starting to play catch up to other WordPress options like Elementor (at $49 instead of $99). Elementor continues to experience astronomical growth and numerous rounds of additional venture capital funding and this version 3 of OptimizePress is a direct response to that.

However OptimizePress 3 scores highly in “Ease of use” and “Support” as they are more responsive than Elementor right now who can take up to a week to get a resolution to a ticket.

Introducing OptimizePress 3

OptimizePress 3 review

OptimizePress 3 is the original page builder for WordPress.

In many ways we have a lot to be thankful to OptimizePress for because back in 2011 designing on WordPress was terrible! However now in many ways due to OptimizePress it has grown to become a serious design platform for building websites and that is reflected in them holding their share of roughly one-third of all websites online being built with it.

To be fair OptimizePress doesn't purely view themselves as a website design suite but more of a marketing platform that integrates a lot of these type of tools into the design process.

In 2011 OptimizePress 3 was revolutionary for how it could convert stale old WordPress blogs into full blown marketing funnels. But in 2019 it's intreface and features were starting to become dated compared to the competition so it came as fantastic news when this version 3 was released that completely overhauled the design editor experience.

Now let’s take a closer look at what OptimizePress exactly is and does.

What exactly is OptimizePress 3?

For those of you not yet familiar with OptimizePress, it is a WordPress plugin with the option of a smart marketing theme that is designed to turn your blog into a full-blown marketing machine with funnels, up-sells and other marketer focused tools. Not only this but it also allows you to build a full membership site (easier than Wishlist) if you want to create a loyalty club or sell an online course.

The reason it has been so well loved in the marketing community is because it came at a time (2010) when there were little options to create landing page funnels.

In fact, if you wanted to create a sophisticated funnel back then you would have had to hire a designer and coder to get the same features OptimizePress version 1 gave you. It was revolutionary in how it gave you access to both good design and good code to enable advanced functions such as a checkout, up-sells, cross-sells and membership privileges.

No other plugin could do this like OptimizePress did at the time and because of this you literally couldn’t go a day without seeing marketing professional recommend it to their audience.

But a lot has changed since 2010 and numerous competitors have entered with some of the biggest being LeadPages and Clickfunnels and dedicated WordPress page builders like Thrive Architect and Elementor Pro.

All of this left OptimizePress 2 feeling dated and in desperate need of updating which I am so glad they are now doing with this latest version of OptimizePress 3.

How to use OptimizePress 3?

The best way to see how to use OptimizePress 3 is to look at the inline editor as discussed in the video below under the section “Fully in-line Editing”.  As it stands right now at the end of February 2019 the platform is complete and is in final testing and because of this we have details on new features which I can share with you now.

To summarize you can expect:

  • New design elements, page sections, modern themes, overlays, funnels, cart designs and an all new in-line drag-and-drop interface.

But Let’s go into more detail with 5 new key features of OptimizePress 3.

Super Fast Page Load Times

This new feature is all about improving conversion rates because nothing says “losing money” quicker than a slow loading website. Many editors and not just the old OptimizePress 2 suffered from this issue and to address it the team has completely rewritten the code of the live editor to have absolutely no bloat script. Throughout the rebuild of the editor they were using the testing site GTMetrix to see how one change would affect website speed.

See screenshot below.

The result of all this work should be three-fold:

  • Speed builds trust which should result in higher opt-in rates on your pages
  • More customers as one of the biggest reasons people abandon carts is slow websites
  • All this should result in more revenue and profits from your website(s)

New in-line Editor

This new feature is all about improving the experience of editing your website. Most other editors have a lot of pop-ups and endless sidebar options for editing the page. This can be very confusing especially if you are just starting out and could lead to you giving up on the plugin you bought before you get your first campaign up and running.

This is a big problem but thankfully OptimizePress 3 has the answer with a fully inline editor as seen in the video below.

By having editing functions inline it saves you considerable time building websites – everything is easily available per element you are editing. The team have done this by having a contextual toolbar that hovers over the element you are working on and also by eliminating most sidebar options.

Below is how a contextual bar looks like:

New Elements

This is important as each new element gives you more power to create new website experiences. This new version will launch with more elements than ever before plus a commitment from the development team to keep adding more when new technologies emerge.

Have a look at a little snippet of elements to expect below.

Sections (A new way to build WordPress websites)

Sections are a new way of building professional websites.1.00

Sections in the new OptimizePress 3 include:

  • ?Hero Sections
  • Opt-in Form Action Sections
  • Pricing Sections
  • High Impact Feature Sections
  • Light & Dark Sections
  • Team Information Sections
  • Testimonial Sections?

A lot of what makes a website credible are things that are not immediately identifiable. Design factors such as spacing between elements, how fonts compliment the layout and images and color combinations.

If you are not a professional designer, you are more than likely not going to get this right the first time even designers don’t the first time they play around until they get the perfect design fit. This takes time but with the new sections feature the OptimizePress design team has done this for you and all you have to do is add your text and imagery, saving you literally hours.

As much as having new elements and all is great, it is this Sections feature that should really get you excited.

Edit with any WordPress theme

This is big and something that OptimizePress needed to do with all the other excellent page builders on the market nowadays.

The new OptimizePress 3 page builder works with any WordPress theme allowing you to use all the features you love of your specific theme but now with all the additional elements found in OptimizePress 3.

Of particular interest should be all the marketing elements such as opt-in forms, pop-up overlays, countdown timers and more that will now just work with no fiddly coding or web hooks needed.

Whenever you can delete a plugin because you have another plugin that can do the same thing, you are onto a good thing. Too many plugins can cause issues with compatibility where your website suddenly stops working after an update and it is a common reason for a website slowing down and getting hacked.

So it’s fantastic you can get rid of old plugins with the new OptimizePress 3.

And to summarize all of the above – OptimizePress 3 has these advantages over version 2

  • NEW: Fully inline editor
  • NEW: Faster page load times
  • NEW: Elements, layouts, sections and themes
  • NEW: Build for mobile optimization not just responsiveness
  • NEW: Work with any theme

OptimizePress 3 Pricing

A few notes on pricing

It is blatantly clear that OptimizePress is PUSHING you towards their top tier plan by limiting features which many marketers would consider essential to the top tier plan only.

I do hope OptimizePress moves away from this sales strategy as their direct WordPress page builder competition don't employ this same tactic and I'm sure it costs OptimizePress sales.

The premium templates collection in the OptimizePress Suite plan are also a definite reason to consider going for the top tier plan alongside the current price promotion of $199.

OptimizePress 3 Alternatives

Their are three leading alternatives to OptimizePress that are worth your attention but make sure to read our notes below to find the best option for your website.

  • LeadPages (Similar to OptimizePress but with an easier to use editor)
  • ClickFunnels (Significantly more expensive but you get more such as email and e-commerce gateway)
  • Elementor Pro (Doesn’t have membership portal options but excellent page editor)

OptimizePress 3 Alternative Notes

You can consider LeadPages and especially ClickFunnels as direct competitors to OptimizePress 3 due to their marketing focused features. When you do that, the pricing proposition of OptimizePress becomes significantly more compelling.

OptimizePress 3 Pros and Cons

  • Cheaper than LeadPages & ClickFunnels
  • Templates are great and visually appealing
  • Easy to use inline editor
  • Has extra functions like membership portals

  • No free trial available (30 day money back guarantee though)
  • Has strong competition from the likes of Elementor which is cheaper at $49

Are there up-sells?

Yes for a company that builds a technology platform built around helping marketers create funnels and up-sells this is to be expected. Thankfully the upsell you are presented with is actually good in the form of a template club to give you access to new designs on a monthly basis.

You don’t need this to use OptimizePress but it’s good to know it’s there if you want.

OptimizePress 3 has stiff competition in 2020.

That being said, they really have upped their game with the new inline editor, faster page load times, great design templates, membership portal function and let's not forget all the marketer exclusive functions too.

All for a price that is reasonable compared to the competition.

So we definitely recommend considering OptimizePress 3 before making your final decision.

Is there an OptimizePress 3 coupon code?

Occasionally vendors share coupon codes, these will appear below (or blank if none).
